Jubril Olalekan, also known as 'LAKESJAY' is a penultimate student of Philosophy, University of Ibadan.
Jubril Olalekan, born on the 5th of May, 1999, hailed from Osun State. He is the last born of eight children of Mr. & Mrs. Jubril family. He however lost both parents at the early stage of his life; the father at the age of 7 and the mother at the age of 8, respectively. He is a Christian & a worshipper.
He completed his primary education at Eleja Primary school, Igbogbo, Ikorodu. He also had his junior(where he was the assembly prefect) and senior secondary school education at Oreyo senior grammar school(He was the assembly prefect in junior school, and social prefect in his Senior school & president of the literary and debate society), Igbogbo, Ikorodu.
He got admitted into the University of Ibadan in 2018/2019 for his first degree where he has serves as in different capacities; as a member of his electoral committee in his department and Faculty. He is a member of NAPS Press. And he is currently the PRO II of UCJ, UNIVERSITY OF IBADAN. He is also an MC.
He began his music Career about 10years ago while he was in JSS2. He continued his passion for music when he got into Senior secondary school where he established a school label RRDW(Real Rappers Descendants' World), while he served in the capacity as the school's social prefect.
Lakesjay style of music is unique, a reason for which he coined his own genre known as Afro-didactic; Afro because his sound represents Africa, and Didactic because of the intrinsic moral undertone that his musical content conveys.
He's passion-driven and wants to restore the true essence of music to the music industry.
His debut single, STORY, is a must-listen-to: it is a song that speaks volumes of the rigour of being from a humble home, and is as well dedicated to everyone in dire pursuit of making meaning of their lives amidst all negativities and disadvantages.
It is a song that celebrates passion, dedicated and commitment.
